Royal Knokke Football Club is a Belgian association football club founded in 1905 and based in Knokke, West Flanders.
In the 2016–17 season Knokke won the Second Amateur Division winning promotion to the ‘First Amateur Division’.
In 2017 work on new fencing, lighting and artificial turf was completed.
FC Knokke are now hoping to build on their recent success with ambitions for promotion into ‘Belgian First Division B’.
A bigger stadium will be needed. With support from the municipality of Knokke-Heist they have planned an ambitious 3 year project. There will be an upgrade the Olivier stadium to an attractive open sports park and an expansion and renovation of the De Stormmeeuw sports center.
Work on the expansion of the football grandstand with 2 new wings with hospitality space and new changing rooms started in 2018.
New Sports Centre:
Large glass sections will ensure visitors to the sports hall get a panoramic view of the surroundings from the first floor. Changes to De Stormmeeuw include a new reception area, extra changing rooms and a new room for combat sports.
New Stadium and Stand:
The main stand is being enlarged, with refurbished changing rooms, so that the number of available seats will be increased to 900. New VIP boxes will be added to the second floor.
All work associated with this project had a 10 year APAC warranty.
To meet the terms and conditions for the APAC guarantee, Vinçotte carried out regular independent technical checks on site.
Because of the construction work Royal Knokke FC had to play their 2018/19 “home games” at De Taeye stadium in Heist.
In the 2019/20 season they will be able to return to their exciting new home stadium.
APAC members PLPCOATINGS provided the paint solution.
The applicators used the paint system that combined PLPCOATINGS T-Wash on the galvanised substrate with PLPCOATINGS Paulycote Sealer 958 and PLPCOATINGS Paulythane Finish AK RAL 9016.
This paint solution provided a durable finish that had all the anti-corrosion features needed to qualify for the APAC guarantee.
“This is an exciting project that will greatly benefit the people of Knokke-Heist. We wanted to make sure that we had a guarantee in place to make sure that this great new facility will be protected for many, many years to come”.
